Make Money Blogging
Never as before you had a better time to start an online business, side hustle or a blog. Hosting companies, social media tools, free platforms (such as WordPress), free themes, plugins, and so on. All valid, cheap or free options for you to get started.
Blogging can be a great way for you to express your passion for a particular subject, and additionally a way for you to build a source of passive income.
Fellow Bloggers Examples
- Smart Passive Income: Pat Flynn is making +$165,000 per month. Affiliate Products, Book, Sales Consulting, Public Speaking, Podcasts and so on, are ways that Pat uses to build his source of passive income.
- Making Sense of Cents: Michele through her online course and affiliate marketing is making over +$175,000 per month. Truly amazing!
Today will look at some ways of making money using a blog.
1. Promote an affiliate product
Affiliate sales comprise a large chunk of revenue for most big-name bloggers. For instance, Michele made over $100k from affiliate products. Online courses, hosting services, and so on, can have a major impact on your return from the website.
Here are some characteristics of SiteGround Affiliate Payout:
- Generous performance-based commissions: More customers referred, higher commissions earned! (Starts with 40€ per sale, and then goes above 75€ depending on your sales)
- Regular weekly payments
- No minimum monthly sales: Even a single affiliate sale gets paid by SiteGround!
- Short withhold period – 30 days
2. Sell ad space
This is the strategy that most bloggers start with when looking to monetize their blog. It isn’t my favorite, because from personal experience if you use too much of this strategy, readers can find it difficult to read your blog. Also, you can look at creative ways of selling ad space, like using your social media profiles (with a single post directly to your followers); or selling space on your email newsletter.
For a social media post, you can charge anywhere from $25-$500+ depending on your follower base.
3. Write sponsored posts
As you begin to start your brand (through your blog) you will receive multiple offers to write, or simply publish posts from companies that are relevant to the topic(s) that you write. I’m a really recent blogger and already receive a $100 offer to publish a post here in GrowtoRetire.com
Advice: make sure the posts are actually interesting and relevant to your audience, and that you fully disclose the sponsored nature of the post.
4. Teach an online course
One of my long-term objectives is to have online courses here on the blog. Initially I will offer free versions, but eventually, I would like to have some solutions that could bring money to the business. Fortunately, we now have several solutions to start an online course. My personal favorite is Teachable. Considered by many the best online courses platform in the world.
5. Create a private community
With all of the social networks available out there, you can start by building communities (Facebook Groups, Google+ Communities), and then monetize. The bigger the community, the more opportunity you’ll have to monetize.
If you want some help on bringing traffic, here’s a Facebook Group to help you with StumbleUpon.
Google+ Community to help bloggers in this social network: Bloggers On Google Plus.
6. Premium content
Premium content can be a valuable source of income. But how to monetize it? Well, you just have to put awesome content behind a paywall, which means visitors pay to access it. You can get your own paywall set up in 10 minutes or less using a plugin like MemberPress.
7. Consulting services
If you really know how to do things in a particular area, you may as well give some advice and guidance to others. Use your phone, email or Skype to give advice and get paid for it.
8. Write an ebook
Have a lot of know-how in a particular area? Write an ebook, so others can use your knowledge. You have platforms like Amazon to help you sell it, or you can do it on your own website.
9. Write tutorials
One way of taking advantage of affiliate links is to write tutorials on how to take the most of that product or service. The more detailed and helpful, the more likely people will use it.

10. Product reviews
An excellent way monetizing your website is to review products or services. Don’t forget to clarify that a positive review isn’t guaranteed (and that you’ll give back their money if you can’t give one). Therefore you can help your readers with honest feedback on a product/service and receive a fee for it.
11. Start Your Own Podcast
To get started you need to make sure you have the right equipment. This includes getting a microphone, laptop, and headphones. People love podcasting because they can listen to your ideas or interviews while doing other things.
We hope this article helped to give you plenty of ideas on how to make money online using WordPress! With hard work and perseverance, anyone can earn money from their blog.
